DESCRIPTION:Commencing with our Pirate Kick-Off Party on Thursday 10th November\, get up close to our pirate crews and ready your sea legs for the days of celebrations ahead. \nSaturday 12th November brings with it our 5K sea swim and the infamous Pirates Week Food Festival\, where every conceivable local flavour is available for you to savour. The firework spectacle over Harbour Drive will thrill the crowds\, as a veritable feast of local live bands and entertainers will keep your toes tapping until the early hours.  Throw in the colour\, energy and plumage of carnival and this becomes the powerhouse of festival evenings and street entertainment. \nSaturday 12th November begins with the hilariously funny Cardboard Regatta and the jaw dropping spectacle of the pirate landing and float parade.  As pirates fight their way on shore\, can the Red Coats protect the Governor from his inevitable capture?   The island welcomes all of its new visitors with the very best of local artists and songwriters who vy for the coveted National Song Contest title and a resounding roundup of street dance artists. \nOn Wednesday 16th November\, we bring a new aspect to the Pirates Fest with the Cassava Cake and Conch Fritter Competition hosted at the beautiful Coral Beach in West Bay. \nThursday 17th we bring it back to Central George Town with the sweet sounds of the Steel Pans with “Pan in de City” and a food truck festival sure to leave your mouth-watering into the night. \nFriday 18th November we start the morning with releasing several yearling turtles back into the wild blue from Governor’s Beach before taking to the streets with the Pirates 5k Run/Walk through George Town finishing with our famous Block Party as the sounds of soca music fill the night. \nAs Saturday 19th November rolls in we begin to wind down the Grand Cayman week with a new Children’s Play Area hosted by Inclusion Cayman while the waterfront fills again to witness the infamous Trial of the Pyrates – will the Governor issue a pardon or lock those Pirates up for good?  We enjoy the night with musical acts on the Mainstage and a Teen Street Dance\, while the skies light up with the fireworks. \nSunday 20th November we take to the high seas with the 3rd Pirates Week Festival Flotilla and for those who prefer to keep their feet firmly on dry land\, take a trip to the Cayman Islands Turtle Centre for the Pirates Week Family Fun Day. SUMMARY:Pirates Fest Happy Hour & Official kick off Party - Sandbar
DESCRIPTION:Perhaps no other Caribbean nation celebrates its pirate legends and cultural heritage quite like the Cayman Islands\, which erupts into a festival of spectacle and pageantry during our annual Pirates Fest. \nPirates Fest 2022 kicks off in Grand Cayman on 30th September with a District Heritage Day followed by three more during October.  Little Cayman festivities kick off on Friday 4th – 6th November\, move on to the George Town\, Grand Cayman from Saturday 12th – Saturday 19th November and finally close out on Cayman Brac from Friday 25th – Sunday 27th November. \nFestival goers will also enjoy a series of party nights\, costume contests \, cultural and heritage competitions\, music and much more\, stretching across all three islands. \nThis year we are embark on an eight-week journey of celebrating the uniqueness of each district\, while learning the how pirates\, buccaneers\, corsairs and privateers shaped our islands\, the region and our maritime heritage. The islands will come alive with delicious food\, crafts and fun that create an inclusive atmosphere for families and individuals: locals\, residents and tourists\, young and old. \nThe “Pirates Week” of the Pirates Fest\, held in Grand Cayman\, starts with a fantastic happy hour\, kick-off party and Steelpan Competition on Thursday 11th November and on Friday night\, the festival goes off with a bang at the spectacular fireworks display over Seafarer’s Way and to the beat of the very best live music emanating from the main stage.  The entire weekend is packed with activities for all ages including the Pirates Landing\,  Float parade\, Cardboard Boat Regatta\, flotilla\, and competitions.   There’s no better place to be in the Caribbean. \nWhether you are visiting Little Cayman\, Cayman Brac or Grand Cayman for their individual Pirates Week celebrations\, you are sure to have fun!
