Getting to Paradise

Only 90 miles off the Miami shore, Cayman is accessible via air and sea. A short 1.5 hr airplane ride from Miami will have you basking in the island sun in no time. All major airlines transport passengers from all U.S major cities. Don’t feel like flying? Head to the port and sail on a cruise ship to the heart of George Town, the Cayman Islands Capital. Disembark off either plane or cruise and find your next adventure within minutes! The island has a span of only 22 miles. Everything on Grand Cayman Island is only a short distance from restaurants, excursions, and nightlife. Enjoy maximized time to explore Cayman as your next expedition is within walking distance of your hotel or rental home. With ride-share apps like Uber or Lyft unavailable on the island, we recommend a car rental service to get around. Other options are taxis, which can run a little high, public buses, which cannot access all of Grand Cayman, or Cayman’s version of a ride-share app, Flex. Unlike Uber or Lyft, Flex has very few drivers which can cause long waits for pickups. Although renting a car is almost unnecessary with all the excitement within minutes of each other, it is still the best way to get around all of Grand Cayman at your leisure.

Let’s talk exploration

How can you possibly unpack such a gorgeous island in a few days? We’ve got just the advice for you. Upon arriving in George Town you will be greeted by several colorful buildings inspired by its Caribbean colonial roots. Immerse yourself in the island’s historical culture by visiting the Cayman National Island Museum, where you will learn all about Cayman’s natural and cultural heritage. Just moments away, you will find several shops and local artisanry all over George Town where you can find the perfect souvenir to remind you of this enchanting destination after it’s concluded.

You’ve heard about the award-winning Seven Mile Beach. Hands down, a must-see when you explore Cayman. Crystal clear waters, an array of shops, restaurants, bars, water activities, and home to some of the most luxurious properties in the Caribbean. Everything you need is in arms reach with a stunning touch of tropical bliss.

One cannot simply ignore the natural underwater treasures found in the pristine waters of Grand Cayman. The island is famous for its world-class snorkeling and diving due to its remarkable coral reefs and shipwrecks found below. Enter a world teeming with marine wildlife that allows you to submerge yourself in their thriving ecosystem. A variety of different excursions for all ages to choose from. From stingray snorkeling to coral nursery dives, we strongly recommend hitting the open waters of Grand Cayman.

On land, there are several delightful excursions to partake in. If you enjoy a good conservation effort you will love the Cayman Turtle Center. A sweet educational tour that allows you to learn about the turtle rehabilitation process and even lets you interact with these precious creatures! If you’re a nature lover, Queen Elizabeth II Botanical Park is just for you. Wander through lush gardens, encounter native plants and exotic birds, all while learning about the native natural heritage.

To explore Cayman like a local, it’s recommended to see which local events are taking place during your visit. Take Pirate Week for example. It is a one-week festival where pirate legends and cultural heritage is celebrated across all three islands. Enjoy a series of party nights, costume contests, cultural and heritage competitions, music, and much more. Other than festivals, delve into local Farmers Market to get a taste of the native produce, art, and handmade keepsakes to take home the Grand Cayman charm.

Once you’ve done all nature has to offer, there is Camana Bay. The 685-acre town in the heart of Seven Mile Beach, where you can shop, dine, live & play. Home to the 75-foot Observation Tower where you receive a striking panoramic view of the exquisite Grand Cayman, at the top. Experience world-class shopping, dozens of restaurants, and cheerful activities like wine tasting or Karaoke. Watch all the latest releases on the biggest screen in Cayman, complete with reclinable seats and a full-service bar at the Camana Bay Cinema. Take full advantage of the duty-free shopping here, and all throughout the Cayman Islands. It’s a shopping paradise!

Grand Cayman offers copious amounts of whimsical enjoyment for all levels of thrill seekers and relaxation enthusiasts alike. The truth is, whether you choose to fly or sail to the island, its zeal never ends when you truly explore Cayman. Plan ahead, make it count, but overall visit Grand Cayman and enjoy its radiant allure. Your Caribbean adventure awaits!
